This is my finished music video that I created for
my advanced portfolio media coursework. I didn't produce any drafts of my music
video because I got audience feedback and advice from my peers as I developed
the music video as I showed my music video to my audience off the editing suite
that I was working on. This meant that I could act on my feedback straight away
and edit my music video whilst I was been given audience opinions. I only save
one final draft of my music video is it takes up a large amount of time saving
the final product from the editing suites as a video that can be seen on the
internet and as a video on a computer from a memory stick or saved file.
I filmed at various different locations that you
can see in my music video in order to collect the video footage that I needed
to produce my music video. I decided which locations I wanted to use when I
developed my story board before starting to film for my final product. These
locations were all easily accessible and I planned factors such as transport
and availability of the locations before starting to film. The majority of the
locations were at both my house (outside) and Leah's house (inside and
outside). The only location that was a long way from either of our houses was
Bridlington Beach because there wasn't another beach near our houses that we
could use.
All of the costumes that can be seen in my music
video were clothes that Leah already had nothing I used was bought brand new to
save money on the budget of making the music video. I went to Leah's house and
picked out different outfits for each location that we planned to film at
linking the costume to the location and weather it was appropriate to wear on
the day or not. On one or two occasions the costumes had to be re thought
because of weather conditions and availability on the specific day. Parts of the
outfits such as shoes had to be adapted to the locations for example on the
beach Leah didn't wear shoes at all when she was in the water but when filming
in long grass and trees it was important Leah wore boots that would protect her
feet from the ground.
The time period it took me to produce everything
that I needed to do in order to edit my music video and get the finished
product complete wasn't very long. The planning and research took up most of my
time because I had to get inspirations and guidance from existing music videos
relating to my genre and specifically my chosen artist which is Beyoncé and her
music video already produced for Broken Hearted Girl. I didn't start editing
until I had all of my filming shots finished because I wanted to change and
adapt footage as I went along but in order to this I needed all of my footage
so that I could follow my story board to a certain extent. I changed a lot of
parts in my story board for example I planned to include a male artist but
decided at a later date to not include this.
